BlackBerry Research in Motion to Buy Back 1.2 Billion in Common Stock

As Blackberry maker Research in Motion (NSDQ: RIMM) faces stiff competition in the smarpthone market from iPhone, Androids, and Palm Pre. The stock as suffered as well dropping by 30 percent since it reported quarterly earnings in September. The company showed us great confidence and today said it will buy back up to $1.2 billion, yes I said billion in common stock. This represents about 3.6 percent of its shares outstanding. The confidence the RIMM represented today renwed confidence by the shareholders as well this morning sending the companies stock up to $59.50 before giving back most of it's gains.

Tech Trader Daily today reported: “We think RIMM has an attractive portfolio including the Storm II that should allow it to see continued solid demand,” wrote Standard & Poor’s equity telecom analyst James Moorman in a research note today. James Moorman raised his rating on the stock to Buy from Hold.

What are your opinions that own the stock where you think the stock will be at in a year from now.
