At the BlackBerry Developer Conference on Monday Loopt announed major update for thier free BlackBerry application (NSDQ: RIMM). Loopt allows you to see who's around you and the discover the world. Loopt is supported on over 100 mobile devices across all the major U.S. carriers so you can connect with all your friends and family.

The new update allow background processing and things to do suggestion in the BlackBerry application. What this mean is Loop will keep track of your friends all the time even if your not using the application. Loopt will usually get you great results if you are looking fro local resetaurants and events. Another neat feature of Loopt is it includes ratings from Pulse that allows you to see what your freinds think are cool and not cool. One of my favorites features is the ability to find coupons for business locations that are nearby.
